With top tier titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2, The Outer Worlds, Death Stranding, and the long-awaited Shenmue 3, there have been plenty of games worthy of your time.
However, thanks to a release schedule packed to the rafters with great games, there are bound to be a few titles that you have missed out on. You can't play everything, of course, unless you wanted to risk the side-effects of sleep deprivation, so you can't be blamed for missing out on those hidden gems that we think are also worthy of your time.
Check out the following, and when you have finally hung up your boots in Red Dead 2 and explored every last facet of The Outer Worlds, consider adding one of these titles to your playlist.
#1: Stormland
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to the best VR games for PC. As you can see from the linked list, you have Insomniac Games' acclaimed third-person adventure game Edge of Nowhere to sink your time into, as well as the Tron-inspired sporting title, Echo Arena, amongst many others. Because of the many titles available to you, it might be that you missed out on another Insomniac Games release, Stormland. An Oculus exclusive, this pushes the boundaries of VR with a fast-moving, combat-heavy sci-fi experience that gives you complete freedom to explore a vast world on foot or in the air. It's beautiful to look at too, and whether you play the game alone or with friends, the cloud and forest-scapes of Stormland are virtual arenas you will keep coming back to.#2: A Plague Tale: Innocence
You can count the number of games set in 14th Century plague-ravaged Europe on one hand. In fact, you can probably count the number of games on one finger, because we can't think of another (let us know if you can). This immersive stealth adventure for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows computers gives you the opportunity to explore this dark period in history through the eyes of a young woman trying to guide her brother to safety and away from the arms of the Inquisition. Despite the immense odds, you aren't alone as, through a variety of puzzle-like scenarios, you can use the plague-ridden rats that populate the region to help you on your quest. It's a grim tale, and you will need to take a good shower afterwards, but if you enjoy stealth adventures that border on horror, you are sure to have a great time with this one.#3: Judgment
If you're a fan of the Yakuza series of games on the Playstation, you will probably love this PS4 spin-off title. Lauded by many as one of the greatest detective games of all times (not that it has much competition), this is an action-rich tale with a complex narrative and an increased focus on brains over brawn. As a private detective, you find yourself entangled in a gruesome series of murders, and it's your job to hunt down the serial killer that is causing bloody chaos in the city of Kamurocho. There is an open-world approach to the game, so you're not restricted to following the plot lines of the story for all of the title's run time. You can fill the rest of your time taking on side quests, talking to the city's inhabitants and, in a complete change of pace, flying a drone through a series of makeshift race courses. Worth a look then, especially if you have finally completed the latest Yakuza titles on your console.#4: Vampyr
Okay, so this title came out on PS4 and PC in 2018, but Nintendo Switch owners didn't have the opportunity to play this vampiric title until October of this year. Still, no matter what gaming platform you use, this is likely to be a title that you have overlooked, as it doesn't have the graphical capabilities of those bigger-budgeted RPG titles such as Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3. However, if you're looking for an action role-playing game with added bite, you really do need to give this title a try. Set in World War 1-era London, you play as a British surgeon trying to find the fanged beast that turned him into a vampire. The games bends and moulds according to your decisions, and London itself will change depending on whether you decide to save or kill it's local citizens. Be kind, and the city will flourish. Be nasty, and the city will dissolve into monstrous chaos. There are tough decisions to make, and with moral quandaries aplenty, this a role playing game that largely stands apart from others of its kind. So, what game will you be adding to your list?
