Depending on how we use AI, it has the potential to both enhance and threaten our creativity. Generative AI's ability to quickly generate new text, images, and audio has shaken the creative world.

In the Writers Guild of America strike, a key point is that AI be used only as a research tool, not to replace its members.

Moreover, AI models like GPT-4 can produce human-like text based on given prompts, which have been used to create everything from poems to news articles. While AI-generated content cannot replace human creativity, it can enhance it by providing a starting point or offering new perspectives.

However, the fact cannot be ignored that AI-generated content often lacks the depth and emotion of something created by a human. Even then, it's hard to make a living in creativity when there's AI around.

Here are some reasons why one must not solely depend on AI tools for writing:

Lack of Human Touch

While AI content tools can produce content faster and cheaper, they lack the creativity that comes with human writing. The content they create may be technically correct but lacks emotional intelligence. They cannot generate unique ideas or add a personal touch that makes the content engaging. AI writing tools cannot capture the audience's emotions or the sentiment of the content.

Limited Vocabulary and Tone Deafness

The main problems with using AI tools in writing are their inability to understand the tone and their limited vocabulary. Tone expresses the author's attitude and perspective in writing. But today's AI systems cannot accurately distinguish between different tones. Also, AI tools repeat certain words that make the text boring and sometimes incomprehensible to the reader. As a result, flat and dry content is created that fails to establish an emotional connection with readers.

Inaccurate Grammar and Syntax

AI writing tools do a good job of spotting errors, but not great. They can identify basic grammar and spelling mistakes but face difficulties with complex sentence structure and syntax. This makes the writing of poor quality, thereby losing reader-acceptability.

AI writing tools can assist and enhance the writing process but cannot fully replace human intelligence. Writers need to embrace AI tools as aids rather than relying entirely on them.
