Real talk: Not every picture is worthy of posting to Instagram. But just because an image doesn’t rack up instant likes or comments doesn’t mean it’s not worth keeping. Now the social media platform is testing a way to privately stash, say, a sentimental, blurry #tbt — all without having to share it with the world (or mark your account private).
[post_ads]The new “archive” feature, according to TechCrunch, lets users hide posts from followers and the public. You can either take the image to your grave or post it later. Instagram plans to roll out the new feature over the next few months, according to the site.
To use the feature, tap the three dots found above any post and hit “archive.” Then, to access archived posts, tap the clock icon on the top of your profile page to show on profile. The new feature, which is on some accounts already, is a godsend for those who meticulously curate their top posts, hide the evidence of last night, or stash away photos of a former bestie or significant other.
This isn’t the only game-changing update Instagram has made of late. Just a few months ago, the app added its slideshow capability, which allows users to post up to 10 pictures in a single post, and it became an overnight must-have. (Exactly how did we live without that feature before?)

It has also given users the opportunity to categorize and create collections of saved posts. Meanwhile, Instagram Stories has added geofilters and selfie stickers into the fold.No wonder the social app has surpassed Snapchat in daily active users, with more than 700 million to date. With its latest update, feeds are likely to look more curated and flawless than ever, making this a good time to remember that life is not exactly as it appears on the ’gram.
