Even though Apple TV is compatible with plenty of streaming services, from Netflix to HBO Go, there’s one that has been noticeably missing: Amazon Prime Video. If you’re an Apple TV owner who longs for easy Amazon Prime Video access, though, then your binge-watching just got a bit easier: The platform is reportedly finally on its way to Apple TV.
[post_ads]On Thursday, BuzzFeed reported that “sources in position to know” revealed that Apple TV will finally let users watch Amazon Prime Video. Previously, Apple TV users who wanted to watch Amazon Prime Video had to get creative — hacks include streaming the show on your phone or laptop and airplaying it to your TV, or streaming the show on your computer and using an HDMI cable to display it on your TV. If the partnership is to be confirmed, that means Apple TV users will more easily be able to watch shows like Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle, and The Man in the High Castle, as well as all of the other TV shows and movies in Amazon's extensive library.
BuzzFeed said that Apple will announce the decision at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will take place on June 5 in San Jose, CA. The outlet adds that an anonymous source expects the update to go into effect sometime this summer, although that is unconfirmed. The news was previously hinted at last week, when Recode reported that the deal was in talks between the two tech companies. This is not the only big Apple news of the day. According to Ars Technica, at Microsoft’s Build developers conference on Thursday, the tech company confirmed that iTunes and Spotify are both coming to the Windows Store and Windows 10 S. The outlet explains that Apple is often hesitant to offer its services on competing platforms, so it’s a big deal that they’ve finally conceded and will be letting Windows phone and computer users access iTunes.
