There was a lot of noise around the unveiling of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. With the big boy tablet, Microsoft is aiming to replace desktops, and that's quite an ambitious feat to achieve. As India still awaits the official launch date of the Surface Pro 3, here are 6 things you need to know about Microsoft's desktop nemesis.
It Scales The Desktop Resolution
The Pro 3 automatically scales the desktop to 1.5x to avoid the Windows desktop interface. The up-scaled resolution is 1,440 x 960. The up-scaling makes it easier for the user to see Windows icon and menu option on the Pro 3. The same feature can also be seen in Mac Book Air with retina display technology.
5 MP Cameras (Front And Back)
5 MP Cameras (Front And Back)
Yes, there are two cameras on the Pro 3 and both of them are 5 megapixels. Additionally, both are capable enough to shoot 1080 full HD videos. This will not only make the Pro 3 more productive but will also make it an ace in leisure video chats.
It Comes With An Active Capacitive Pen
It Comes With An Active Capacitive Pen
Unlike the iPad, the Surface Pro3 lets you use a stylus capacitive pen to take notes and even draw. The best part is that this pen is "active" i.e. it's Bluetooth enabled and emits and electrostatic field. This electrostatic field lets the user hover the cursor over the screen without even having to touch the screen with the pen. Sounds amazing!
Its Charger Can Also Be Used As A Data Port

Unlike the not so good proprietary chargers of preceding Surface tablets, the Pro 3 charger is pretty interesting. This one is not just a magnetic connector unlike its earlier magnetized slot; it also doubles up as a data port.

Microsoft wanted to decrease the parallax caused by multiple layers used to make a touchscreen. And, the result is the new phenomenal 12-inch, 2-layer only touchscreen. The screen consists of the LCD and the glass on top of it. Furthermore, the screen is coated with indium tin oxide which increases touch sensitivity.
The Almost Invisible Speakers
The Almost Invisible Speakers
At first sight, you wouldn't even realize that Microsoft has buried two stereo speakers in the Pro 3. But, that's what Microsoft's clever engineering is all about. The sound units can be spotted on the right- and left-hand sides, half an inch from the top edges of the tablet, a closer look also reveals narrow speaker grills.
