Pokémon Go’s Gastly Community Day runs on July 19 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time zone.
In addition to the bonuses Niantic set for Pokémon Go due to the coronavirus pandemic — such as better Incense and less walking distances required — Gastly will be spawning everywhere during a six-hour period.
How do I get a Shiny Gastly?
Since Gastly will be popping up everywhere, just tap every Gastly you see until you get a Shiny one. You’ll find one sooner or later, as the Shiny rate on Community Days is boosted to about a one in 24 rate.
What special move does Gengar learn?
If your Gastly is evolved into a Gengar from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in your local time on July 19, the Gengar will learn Shadow Punch. This isn’t the greatest move for PvE content, like raids or gyms, but it is pretty good for PvP content.
How do I make the most of this Community Day?
Gengar is a pretty good ghost-type Pokémon, so you should try to nab one or two of them with high IVs to power up your team. Set up your Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball for PvE content.
Eggs will also hatch in 1⁄4 the usual distance when they’re put into Incubators during the event period. This is a boost to the currently set 1⁄2 hatch distance, so make sure you shove any eggs you have into incubators. Incense will also last for three hours during the event period.
