The oceans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are opening up. Today, Nintendo revealed a summer update for the Switch game, which will be launching on July 3rd and adds a very important feature: swimming.
Now, players will be able to jump into the waters that surround their island and even search for new sea life that can then be donated to the museum. The update will also introduce new crafting options, add mermaid-themed furniture to collect, and make some changes to Gulliver, a bird who frequently washes ashore and will now be decked out as a pirate.
This is arguably the biggest change to the game since an April update that added new gardening features and a mysterious art seller. It also looks like there’s more to come as well. “Another summer update is planned to be released in early August, so stay tuned for further details to come,” Nintendo says.
